Sharn: City of Towers (Dungeons & Dragons d20 3.5 Fantasy Roleplaying, Eberron Supplement) Review

If you're looking for a highly detailed city book for an Eberron campaign you can't go wrong here. Sharn provides endless outlets for adventure, from thieves guilds to corrupt officials to exotic and interesting locales in the city itself.
This setting book is focused almost exclusively on the city of Sharn itself, with only a brief discussion of the rest of Eberron and how it relates to Sharn politically and economically. Those who are looking for additional crunch - rules and Prestige Class - will be disappointed, though what is here is very well integrated with the city.
The bulk of the book breaks the city down into Districts and presents extensive information on these smaller sections of the city. Prominent businesses, guilds, NPCs, and other such information is presented. Politics, law and order, and life in Sharn each receive their own detailed chapter.
Eberron fans can't pass this one up. While the information is only focused on the city of Sharn, the feel of the book is entirely Eberron.

Jack the Ripper: First American Serial Killer Review

Jack the Ripper: First American Serial Killer
Average Reviews:

The emergence of Tumblety as a major suspect in the Ripper murders is a stunning revelation by the authors, Evans and Gainey. Equally amazing is the linkage to Whitechapel via a series of very similar murders that occured in South America and New York. The globetrotting Tumblety appears to have been in the limelight consistently in the 1890s and it is intriguing that the British press virtually ignored his importance in the case, giving some support to the authors theory on cover-up and conspiracy by the Yard. The authors convey the frustration of the case quite well, including the competitive nature of Scotland Yard and the USA authorities. Anyone interested in the Ripper murders should buy this book. It is far more credible than the rubbish published by Daniel Farson or the laughable accounts concerning James Maybrick.

Hidden Southern California (Hidden Travel) Review

This guide gave me all of the information I needed to have a wonderful vacation. The information was candid, and thoughtfully presented. There were many tidbits of information/ sights I would never had thought to see if it wasn't for this book. My vacation consisted of renting a car at LAX touring along the coast (stopping at places recommended in the guide) Heading down to San Diego and then returning to LAX by traveling inland and seeing Temecula etc. It was a fun filled 10 days and all I used was this guide. If you just want the basic tourist jargon, buy a Frommers guide, not a hidden one... :-)

I found this book after visiting Kim's website on About.com. Divided into chapters that cover six New England states, this book offers not only travel destinations, but website addresses, phone numbers, maps and tons of helpful information. I found the "Travel Tips" and "Fast Facts" interesting and the Day Trip suggestions are a lifesaver since I don't have a lot of time to research options. This book will help you plan a New England getaway -- or buy one to give to a friend, or send to someone you know who lives there. They'll love it!
