i am planning a trip concentrating on coastal areas near l a. so after using amazon's "search the book" feature, i saw this book covered many of the areas i was looking at. while waiting for it to arrive i've been doing a fair amount of research on the web. now that the book is here, i am amazed to find the content is almost completely taken from local chamber of commerce's web pages. the sections in this book are less detailed summaries of what information you would get off of local commerce and tourism sites. so much so that many phrases used would result in a plagiarism lawsuit had they not changed one of the words in the paragraph. after reading this book i seriously doubt ellen clark or ray riegert have ever even been to the l a area. i strongly advise you don't make the same mistake i did. look for a different book, or do as the authors did and simply use the internet. for the only way the information in this book would be considered "hidden" is if you have no internet acces. if that's the case, then this review won't save you any money.
